Selection Process
- Prelims: A 2-hour exam with 150 multiple-choice questions and negative marking. It is for screening candidates for the mains exam. Subjects include General Science, Current Events, History, Geography, Polity, Economy, and general mental ability. Minimum qualifying marks vary by category.
- Mains: Includes General Hindi (100 marks, 30% passing mandatory but not counted for merit), General Studies Paper I (300 marks), General Studies Paper II (300 marks), Essay (300 marks), and one optional subject (100 marks).
- Interview: Candidates who pass mains attend an interview worth 120 marks.
