Indian Air Force (IAF) invites online applications for AFCAT 01/2026 for 302 officer posts in Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-technical) branches including NCC Special Entry. The posts are permanent commission with pay as per 7th CPC plus allowances. Candidates must be between 20 to 26 years of age and meet educational qualifications ranging from 10+2 with Physics & Maths plus graduation or engineering degrees. The selection process includes an online AFCAT exam, AFSB testing, CPSS for flying branch, and medical examination. The last date to apply is 14-12-2025.

  • Flying Branch (SSC): 38 vacancies
    Qualification: 10+2 with Physics & Maths + Graduation with 60% OR B.E./B.Tech
  • Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) – AE(L): 129 vacancies
    Qualification: 10+2 with PCM + 4 yrs Engineering degree in eligible disciplines
  • Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) – AE(M): 59 vacancies
    Qualification: 10+2 with PCM + 4 yrs Engineering degree in eligible disciplines
  • Ground Duty Non-Tech (Weapon Systems + Admin + Lgs + Accts + Edn + Met): 114 vacancies
    Qualification: Graduation with 60% (as per branch-wise requirement)

Qualification Requirements

10+2 with Physics & Maths + Graduation with 60% OR B.E./B.Tech for Flying Branch; 10+2 with PCM + 4 yrs Engineering degree in eligible disciplines for Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) and (Mechanical); Graduation with 60% for Ground Duty Non-Tech branches as per branch-wise requirement

Selection Process

    stage: Stage 1: Online AFCAT Exam

    details: Computer-based exam of 2 hours including General Awareness, Verbal Ability, Numerical Ability, Reasoning and Military Aptitude with 100 questions totaling 300 marks

    stage: Stage 2: AFSB Testing

    details: Candidates shortlisted from AFCAT exam or directly for NCC Special Entry will appear for AFSB Interview at one of the AFSB centres including Officer Intelligence Rating, Picture Perception & Discussion Test, Psychology Tests, Group Tests and Personal Interview

    stage: Stage 3: CPSS (For Flying Branch)

    details: Computerised Pilot Selection System test mandatory and qualifying for candidates opting for Flying Branch

    stage: Stage 4: Medical Examination

    details: Detailed medical fitness test conducted at authorized centres as per Air Force standards

    stage: Final Merit List

    details: Prepared based on AFCAT score, AFSB performance and medical fitness subject to branch-wise vacancies
