Selection Process
Computer Based Test (CBT): Most posts require a computer based objective type (MCQ) examination. Some posts have negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer (specified for Scientist posts, Administrative Assistant, Assistant-II and Hindi Paper-I).
Minimum Qualifying Marks in CBT: Scientist posts and some posts require 60% as minimum qualifying marks; Junior Scientist and Laboratory Technician require 50% for GEN/EWS/OBC and 40% for SC/ST; Junior Hindi Translator requires minimum 50% in Paper-I to qualify for Paper-II.
Shortlisting & Personal Discussion (where applicable): For Scientist Grade-II and Scientist Grade-III, candidates are shortlisted for Personal Discussion in a 1:10 ratio after the screening test.
Skill Test / Paper-II / Descriptive Test (where applicable): Administrative Assistant and Assistant-II have a skill test for shortlisted candidates (1:5 ratio). Junior Hindi Translator has Paper-II as a descriptive translation test; final merit for translator is based on Paper-II marks.
Final Merit and Weightage: For Scientist posts final selection weightage: Screening Test 40%, Experience/Publications 30%, Personal Discussion 30%. For other posts final merit is based on CBT performance or specified test outcomes as described.
