Selection Process
- Computer Based Test (CBT): Most posts require a Computer Based Examination of objective-type MCQs. Some posts have negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer as specified.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks / Merit: Minimum qualifying marks vary: Scientist/Scientist-III/Administrative/Assistant require 60%; Junior Scientist and Laboratory Technician have 50% for GEN/EWS/OBC and 40% for SC/ST; Junior Hindi Translator requires 50% in Paper-I to qualify to Paper-II.
- Shortlisting and Skill/Personal Discussion: For certain posts candidates are shortlisted for personal discussion (1:10 ratio) or skill test (1:5 ratio) where applicable. Shortlisted candidates will undergo these further rounds.
- Descriptive / Paper-II for Translator: Junior Hindi Translator has Paper-II which is descriptive (translation, precis, essay) and final merit is based on Paper-II marks only.
- Final Merit / Weightage: For some senior posts final selection uses weightage across screening test, experience/publications and personal discussion (example: Screening Test 40%, Experience/Publications 30%, Personal Discussion 30%). For many posts final merit is CBT-based.
