Selection Process
- 1: Objective multiple-choice CBT covering General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language & Comprehension. Questions in English and Hindi, negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer, and candidates are shortlisted by marks. Minimum qualifying marks: UR 30%, OBC/EWS 25%, Others 20%.
- 2: Qualifying skill test for shorthand: dictation of 10 minutes in English or Hindi. Required speeds: Grade C – 100 wpm; Grade D – 80 wpm. Time allowed for transcript differs by post and language.
- 3: Verification of original 12th mark sheets/certificates, identity and category certificates. Final selection based on CBT merit plus qualification in the Skill Test.
How to Apply
1: Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on the SSC website if not already done.
2: Login using registration credentials and select the Stenographer Grade ‘C’ & ‘D’ Examination 2026.
3: Fill the online application form with personal, educational and other required details.
4: Capture live photograph as per instructions (clear face, no cap/spectacles, proper lighting).
5: Upload scanned signature in JPG/JPEG format (10–20 KB, approx. 6.0 cm × 2.0 cm) and other required documents.
6: Preview the application and verify all details before final submission.
7: Pay the application fee online (if applicable) by 16-05-2026.
8: Submit the application form on or before 15-05-2026 (11 PM).
9: Take a printout of the submitted application form for future reference; no need to send it to SSC at this stage.
10: If required, make corrections during the correction window (20-05-2026 to 21-05-2026) by paying correction charges (Rs 200 for first correction and Rs 500 for second).
