Selection Process

  • 1: Objective multiple-choice CBT covering General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language & Comprehension. Questions in English and Hindi, negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer, and candidates are shortlisted by marks. Minimum qualifying marks: UR 30%, OBC/EWS 25%, Others 20%.
  • 2: Qualifying skill test for shorthand: dictation of 10 minutes in English or Hindi. Required speeds: Grade C – 100 wpm; Grade D – 80 wpm. Time allowed for transcript differs by post and language.
  • 3: Verification of original 12th mark sheets/certificates, identity and category certificates. Final selection based on CBT merit plus qualification in the Skill Test.

1: Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on the SSC website if not already done.

2: Login using registration credentials and select the Stenographer Grade ‘C’ & ‘D’ Examination 2026.

3: Fill the online application form with personal, educational and other required details.
