Selection Process
- Written test (UPTET): Selection is based on a written multiple-choice exam (UPTET). The test has 150 MCQs worth 150 marks, each question carries 1 mark, there is no negative marking, and the duration is 150 minutes. There are separate paper structures for Primary (Paper I) and Upper Primary (Paper II).
- Qualifying criteria: Candidates must meet qualifying marks: General category requires 60% (90/150) and SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Freedom Fighter Dependents/Ex-Servicemen/PwD categories require 55% (82/150).
How to Apply
step1_OTR_registration: Go to the portal and select ‘New Candidate’ to register; enter personal details as per 10th marksheet, choose ID proof, complete verification and perform live photo identity verification.
step2_profile_and_uploads: Verify mobile and email via OTP, create password, fill nationality and other details, choose reservation category if applicable, enter academic details from 10th onwards, and upload photograph, signature, ID and marksheets in specified formats and sizes.
step3_apply_for_exam: Log in, go to ‘Exams’ tab, click ‘Apply Now’ for UPTET 2026, select Paper-I, Paper-II or both and relevant subject group for Upper Primary, review application and proceed to payment.
step4_payment_and_print: Pay fee online through SBI/ICICI gateway (Net Banking/Card/UPI), then download and print the submitted application form; do not send printed form to UPESSC at this stage.
step5_correction_window: If needed, use ‘Edit Application Form’ to make allowed corrections (excluding mobile and email) up to 01-05-2026, confirm changes with OTP and re-accept declaration before finalizing.
