Selection Process
- Written Examination (CBT/TBT): A computer/tablet-based written test of 60 minutes with 40 objective questions (40 marks) and 1 essay question (20 marks) on Scouts & Guides and General Knowledge. Total 60 marks for written test; negative marking of one-third for each wrong objective answer. Minimum 40% required to move to next stage (relaxation as per Railway Board rules).
- Scouting & Activities Marks: Marks awarded for national, state and district events and specialized courses (up to 40 marks across categories B(i)–B(iv)) which are added to the written test for final scoring.
- Document Verification (DV): Candidates equal to 5 times the notified vacancies will be called for document verification on merit after the written test. Original documents and self-attested copies must be produced.
- Panel Formation: A panel is formed based on the merit of the written examination combined with marks awarded for certificates and scouting activities.
- Medical Fitness: Candidates recommended for appointment must pass the prescribed medical fitness standards before final appointment.

- Complete Part I (Registration), Part II (Application), Part III (Payment), Part IV (Upload Documents, photo, sign, thumb impression), Part V (Print Payment Details), Part VI (Print Application).
- Upload a photograph in full Scout & Guide uniform (with cap) and required documents; submit separate application and fee if applying for both levels.
- Ensure fee payment is completed online; for transaction issues perform a fresh transaction and pay from own account to allow refund if applicable.
