Qualification Requirements

A candidate must have an engineering degree from a recognized Indian or foreign university/institution, or have passed specified professional institution examinations (Sections A & B of Institution of Engineers (India), Graduate Membership exams of IETE, Aeronautical Society Associate Membership parts, or equivalent). For certain posts (Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics) and Indian Radio Regulatory Service Group ‘A’) an M.Sc. in Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics, or Radio Engineering is also accepted. Candidates who have appeared for or intend to appear for the qualifying examination may apply provisionally but must submit proof of passing within 10 days of the Main Examination result.

Selection Process

    stage: Stage-I: Preliminary Examination

    details: Objective type exam with two papers (Paper-I: General Studies and Engineering Aptitude – 2 hours, 200 marks; Paper-II: Discipline-specific – 3 hours, 300 marks). Marks in Stage-I count towards final merit and only those who qualify are admitted to Stage-II.

    stage: Stage-II: Main Examination

    details: Conventional (written) discipline-specific papers: two papers each of 3 hours and 300 marks (total 600 marks). Papers must be answered in English.

    stage: Stage-III: Personality Test/Interview

    details: Interview carrying 200 marks with no minimum qualifying marks. Candidates approx. twice the number of vacancies are summoned. Assessment focuses on leadership, initiative, intellectual curiosity, social qualities, practical application, and integrity.

  3. Fill the Common Application Form (CAF) and the examination-specific module during the notified window.

  5. Sign three times on plain white paper with black ink and upload the scanned signature.
  6. Upload required documents: proof of DOB (Matric/10th), educational qualification certificate, and certificates for age/fee concession if applicable.
  7. Pay the applicable fee online via net banking or Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card/UPI (if not exempted).
  8. Review all details carefully; corrections are not allowed after submission except through the specific one-time URN edit facility described in the notification.
