Qualification Requirements
Candidates must have passed 10+2 from a recognized board and satisfy one of two routes: (Route 1) 10+2 plus a Motor Mechanic Certificate from a recognized institution/ITI and three years’ practical experience in the trade in a reputed workshop; OR (Route 2) 10+2 plus a three-year Diploma in Automobile Engineering. Required qualifications must be possessed by 27 October 2026.

Selection Process
- Phase I – Physical Tests: Physical Efficiency Test (1.6 km race, long jump, high jump) and Physical Standard Test (height, chest, weight). PET is qualifying; candidates failing any event are eliminated.
- Phase II – Documents and Written Exam: Verification of original documents followed by a written examination of 100 marks (objective MCQs, 2 hours) on General Knowledge, Mathematics, Hindi/English and trade-related theory.
- Phase III – Practical Skill Test: A 50-mark Practical Skill Test (vehicle inspection, fault identification, rectification, handling tools). It is qualifying (minimum 25/50) and shortlisted candidates are up to ten times the category vacancies.
- Phase IV – Medical Examination: Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and Review Medical Examination (RME) where applicable; candidates must be medically fit as per notified standards.
- Final Merit: Final merit list is prepared on the basis of written examination marks among candidates who qualify the prescribed stages. Practical test is qualifying only.
