UPSSSC Junior Assistant eligibility has five parts, and the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) checks every one: an Intermediate pass, a PET scorecard from the year the notice names, Hindi and English typing speed, a CCC computer certificate, and an age band counted on a fixed date. Miss one and a good written exam score does not save the application.
The most recent notice for the post is Advertisement 12-Exam/2024. It took applications from 23 December 2024 to 22 January 2025 and is now at its typing test stage. Its dates, fee and category-wise vacancies are on our UPSSSC Junior Assistant recruitment post. This guide covers what that post does not. It explains each requirement and shows which ones moved between the last two notices.

UPSSSC Junior Assistant qualification: an Intermediate pass
The education requirement is an Intermediate (Class 12) pass. The notice does not ask for a degree. A graduate meets the requirement too, because they passed Intermediate on the way.
If your Class 12 result is still pending when a notice opens, find the clause that gives the date by which you must hold the qualification, and read it before you pay the fee. Other posts open to Class 12 candidates are listed under Intermediate (12th) jobs.
The PET scorecard, and why its year matters
PET is UPSSSC’s Preliminary Eligibility Test. Junior Assistant has no open entry of its own. Only candidates holding a valid PET scorecard can sit its main exam, and each notice names the PET year it accepts. The last two notices show how that works.
- 08-Exam/2023, which covered Junior Assistant, Junior Clerk and Assistant Level 3 posts together and opened for registration on 12 September 2023, accepted PET 2022 scores. That recruitment is finished: its final result on 9 September 2026 selected 5,329 candidates against 5,339 revised posts.
- 12-Exam/2024, the Junior Assistant notice of December 2024, accepted PET 2023 scores.
So a candidate whose only scorecard was from PET 2022 could apply to the first notice and had nothing to apply with for the second. The scorecard has to be from a year the notice names, and still valid on the notice’s date.
Validity changed in 2025. A PET 2023 scorecard was valid for one year. From PET 2025 onward, UPSSSC made the score valid for three years, a change announced with the PET 2025 notice in May 2025 and reported by Amar Ujala at the time. PET 2025 was held on 6 and 7 September 2025. Registration for PET 2026 opened in August 2026, and a UPSSSC notice of 25 September 2026 moved its exam from 23 to 25 October to 25 October, 30 October and 1 November 2026. A three-year score means one PET 2025 scorecard can stay valid across several notices, but each Junior Assistant notice still states which PET years it accepts. Read that line first.
Typing speed in Hindi and English
The 12-Exam/2024 notice set the speed at 25 words a minute in Hindi and 30 words a minute in English. UPSSSC tests it in a separate typing test after the written main exam. On 15 September 2026 the commission published the 12-Exam/2024 main exam result and shortlisted 46,282 candidates for the typing test, according to Amar Ujala’s report that day. A UPSSSC notice of 16 September 2026 set the typing test to start on 30 October 2026. Several job sites have since given 13 November 2026 instead, and we have not found a UPSSSC notice that confirms the change, so go by the date on your typing test admit card.
Applications for 12-Exam/2024 closed in January 2025 and the typing shortlist came out in September 2026, twenty months later. The speed you had when you applied still has to be there on the day of the test. Practise in both languages, and if the notice names a Hindi font or keyboard layout, practise on that one.
The CCC computer certificate
CCC is the Course on Computer Concepts, a certificate from NIELIT (National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology). The 12-Exam/2024 notice asked for NIELIT CCC. Course and exam details are on nielit.gov.in.
If your computer qualification is something else, such as a diploma or a degree in computer science, read the notice’s own wording on what it accepts before you apply. Do not assume it counts.
UPSSSC Junior Assistant age limit
08-Exam/2023 and 12-Exam/2024 both set the band at 18 to 40 years, and 12-Exam/2024 counted it as on 1 July 2024. The band has held. The date it is counted on moves with each notice, and in close cases that date decides who can apply.
Take a candidate born on 10 August 2006. On 1 July 2024 they were 17 years and 10 months old, so they could not apply under 12-Exam/2024, even though they had turned 18 four months before applications opened that December. The same check works at the upper end. Count your age on the date the notice names, never on the day you apply. Our government jobs age limit guide explains how these cut-off dates work across recruiters.
Age relaxation is where summaries of 12-Exam/2024 disagree. Several list OBC at 3 years and PwD at 10, which are the central government’s bands. Others list 5 years for SC, ST and OBC alike. We have not printed a figure because we could not confirm which one the notice gives. Uttar Pradesh can set its own rules for its state posts, so the central-government table in the age limit guide may not match this exam. Read the age-relaxation paragraph in the notice itself. If you live outside Uttar Pradesh, read the notice’s reservation section as well before applying under a reserved category.
For other current openings with the same upper limit, see jobs in the 18-40 age band.
Vacancy numbers and the fee
The post count in a notice can change after it is published. 12-Exam/2024 opened with 2,702 Junior Assistant vacancies, and UPSSSC revised that number upward afterwards. Reports since the September 2026 result give 3,284 posts in most cases and 3,279 in others. The revised figure in UPSSSC’s own notice on upsssc.gov.in is the one that counts.
The fee has stayed the same. Both 08-Exam/2023 and 12-Exam/2024 charged Rs 25, the same amount for every category. Payment details for 12-Exam/2024 are on the recruitment post.
Quick answers on UPSSSC Junior Assistant eligibility
Can a graduate apply for UPSSSC Junior Assistant?
Yes, on education. The notice asks for an Intermediate pass, and a graduate has one. The PET, typing, CCC and age requirements apply to graduates in the same way.
Is PET compulsory for Junior Assistant?
Under the last two notices, yes. Only candidates with a valid PET scorecard from the year the notice named could sit the main exam.
Can I apply with an older PET scorecard?
Only if the notice names that PET year and the scorecard is still valid. PET 2023 scorecards were valid for one year. PET 2025 scorecards are valid for three.
What is the UPSSSC Junior Assistant age limit?
18 to 40 years in both 08-Exam/2023 and 12-Exam/2024, counted on a date the notice sets. For 12-Exam/2024 that date was 1 July 2024. Category relaxation is set in each notice.
Is the typing speed actually tested?
Yes. It is a separate typing test after the written main exam. Under 12-Exam/2024, 46,282 candidates were shortlisted for it in September 2026.
Before the next notice opens
UPSSSC posts each advertisement as a PDF on upsssc.gov.in, numbered the way 12-Exam/2024 is. When the next Junior Assistant notice appears, check four lines before anything else: the PET year it accepts, the age cut-off date, the typing speeds and the computer certificate it names. Education and the 18 to 40 band held between the last two notices. The PET year moved, and the other three are fixed only by the notice in front of you.
You can do three things now, before any notice is out. Get the CCC if you do not have it. Keep your PET scorecard and registration number where you can find them, since the 12-Exam/2024 form let candidates log in with the PET registration number. And keep typing in both languages until 25 and 30 words a minute are easy rather than just reachable.
New UPSSSC recruitment posts are collected on our UPSSSC page, and other state openings are on Uttar Pradesh government jobs.
