Selection Process
- Online Computer Based Selection Test: All candidates take an online computer-based test (CBT) of 2.5 hours with MCQs in three parts: Part I – 20 MCQs on General Awareness; Part II – 40 MCQs on English & Reasoning; Part III – 100 MCQs on the concerned discipline. The test can be taken in Hindi or English. Candidates will be shortlisted for interview in the ratio of 1:5 per discipline and category.
- Shortlisting for Interview: Shortlisting for interview is based on Online Test marks in the ratio of 1:5 to vacancies in each discipline and category.
- Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates attend a personal interview at Bengaluru. Final merit uses 85% weight for the Online Test and 15% weight for the Interview. Candidates must secure at least 50% marks each in the Written Test and Interview (relaxations as per rules).
- Declaration & Provisional Offer: Results and provisional select list are published on the website; provisional offers are issued/downloadable as per schedule.
- Pre-employment Medical & Document Verification: Provisionally selected candidates must undergo pre-employment medical examination and document verification (including caste/income/disability proofs) before joining and induction training.
How to Apply
- Have ready a valid email ID, passport-size color photograph (.jpg, under 180 KB), Aadhaar and mobile number, semester-wise educational marks, and employment details if applicable.
- Visit HAL website www.hal-india.co.in (Careers Section) and click ‘SELECTION OF DESIGN TRAINEE/MANAGEMENT TRAINEE – 2026’, then choose the post.
- Register using a valid email ID (enter and re-enter for OTP-based registration).
- Fill Eligibility Details and upload photograph; note Eligibility Details cannot be edited once submitted.
- Fill Personal & Qualification Details; an Edit option is available before final submission.
- For UR/OBC(NCL)/EWS: proceed to SBIePAY payment gateway and pay ₹500 (inclusive of GST) by Credit Card/Internet Banking/UPI; SC/ST/PwBD/Internal candidates are exempted and registration completes on submission.
- After successful payment, print and retain the Application Confirmation Page for future reference.
- Complete all steps well before 14-08-2026, 1400 hrs; incomplete/non-paid applications will be rejected. Do not apply for more than one post.
