Selection Process
- Preliminary merit list: Valid applications are placed in trade- and category-wise preliminary merit lists. For ITI trades ranking is based on aggregate percentage of ITI and 10th marks; for non-ITI trades on percentage in 8th or 10th. Ties are broken by age (older first) then alphabetical order.
- Shortlisting for written exam: Candidates are called at a ratio of 1:20 (shortlisted per vacancy per trade and category). E-admit cards are sent by email.
- Written examination: A 100-mark OMR multiple-choice exam at Karwar (Mathematics 35, General Science 35, General Knowledge 30), two hours, bilingual, no negative marking. Minimum qualifying aggregate is 40%.
- Final merit and verification: Final merit lists and a 20% wait list are prepared on written-exam marks separately for Karwar and Goa; shortlisted candidates undergo document verification.
- Medical and joining: Joining is subject to medical fitness (District Hospital certificate in Navy format) and police verification. Joining letters are sent to registered email.

search_and_apply: In the portal open Apprenticeship Opportunities, search ‘Naval Dockyard, Karwar’, click Apply against the eligible trade and select ‘Uttara Kannada’.
part_2_post_candidate_profile: Download and print the Candidate Profile from the portal, attach self-attested copies of required documents (10th/8th, ITI mark sheets, category/PwBD certificate, Aadhaar) and the undertaking in the notice’s proforma, then send by speed post or registered post to the Officer-in-Charge, Dockyard Apprentice School, Naval Dockyard, Naval Base, Karwar, Karnataka – 581 308 so it reaches within 30 days of the 10 October 2026 publication.

What are the eligibility and qualification criteria?

ITI certificate holders receive Rs. 9,600 per month. Non-ITI trades have slabbed stipends: for example Crane Operator Overhead and Forger & Heat Treater have staged rates (Rs.4,100 for months 1–3, Rs.8,200 for months 4–12, later higher), and Rigger has lower slabbed rates as listed in the notice.
