The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the SSA/UDC Limited Departmental Competitive Examination, 2025 (CSCS, DoPT) notification with 65 vacancies for Senior Secretariat Assistant / Upper Division Clerk. Eligible regularly appointed Lower Division Clerks with required years of service and typewriting qualification may apply online on the SSC portal between 25-06-2026 and 16-07-2026. The exam (Part-I CBE) is tentatively scheduled in August 2026 at Delhi-NCR; qualified candidates will have their APARs (Part-II) evaluated and final merit is based on combined scores. Hard copy of the printed application must be forwarded through the Head of Department to SSC (NR) by 23-07-2026.

Vacancy Details

  • Senior Secretariat Assistant (SSA) / Upper Division Clerk (UDC): 65 vacancies
    Qualification: Regularly appointed Lower Division Clerk (JSA/LDC) of Central Secretariat Clerical Service (CSCS), DoPT, with required length of approved continuous service (not less than five years as on 01-08-2025; alternatively four years in certain competitive appointment cases) and required typewriting test pass or valid exemption.

Qualification Requirements

Only regularly appointed Lower Division Clerks (JSA/LDC) serving in the Central Secretariat Clerical Service (CSCS), DoPT, who have rendered not less than five years’ approved and continuous service in the LDC grade as on 01-08-2025 (or in certain cases four years if appointed through a competitive LDCE earlier) and who have passed the required typewriting test (unless exempted) are eligible.

Selection Process

  • Stage 1 – Computer Based Examination (Part-I): A 200-mark objective Computer Based Examination with four subjects (Comprehension & General English, Parliamentary Procedure, General Knowledge, Noting & Drafting). Candidates must qualify this stage to move to the next stage.
  • Stage 2 – Evaluation of Service Records (Part-II): Only candidates who qualify the CBE will have their Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APARs) evaluated for up to 100 marks.
  • Final Merit Compilation: Final ranking is based on the combined aggregate of Part-I (200 marks) and Part-II (100 marks) for a total of 300 marks; names are arranged in order of merit for inclusion in the Select List.

  2. Complete One Time Registration (OTR) on the new SSC website if not already done and opt for Aadhaar-Based Authentication as advised.
  3. Log in using your Registration Number and password, then click ‘Apply’ under the Senior Secretariat Assistant / Upper Division Clerk Grade Limited Departmental Competitive Examination, 2025 (CSCS, DoPT).
  4. Select your Service/Cadre as Central Secretariat Clerical Service, DoPT and enter joining date in feeder service and length of service to verify eligibility.
  5. Provide typewriting test details (date passed, roll no.) or exemption order details where applicable.
  6. Capture a live photograph on the portal, upload scanned signature in JPEG format (10-20 KB), and upload mandatory service documents.
  7. Preview and submit the application, print the submitted application, and have it forwarded through your Head of Department/Head of Office to SSC (NR), New Delhi so it reaches by 23-07-2026 (6:00 PM).
